One Finished, Another Begun

I’m linking up again this week for the Yarn Along and Keep Calm and Craft On! I’m really excited to share this week, but I’ll share the exciting news at the end of the post. First, what I’m working on now: another Dijon Top for my friend and coworker who requested one. I’m knitting it in Knitpicks Stroll sock yarn in Everglade Heather. At first the color looked like a flat green to me, but as I work with it I can see all the variations of yellows, greens, and blues in the yarn. I’m hoping this top will knit up quick because I’ve got a few other fun projects on my plate as well!

It’s not exactly reading as much as craft-scheming, but what I’m reading right now is my copy of Making Magazine. I was so excited when it arrived in the mail last Friday that I took it camping with me to Sequoia National Park. I’m still ooh-ing and aah-ing over all the fun projects in this beautiful magazine.

Brianna requested sweaters, booties, and hats for her baby niece and nephew (both born within a week of each other). I can’t wait to get started on these. In fact I’m so eager that I already bought a boatload of yarn for the projects. I splurged a little and got Spud & Chloe sweater yarn, because she said price was no object…

But now for the exciting news! I’ve managed to pull off something I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do: I’ve finished my first self-drafted project, and not only does it actually look nice (I’m wearing it at work today), I also wrote a pattern to go with it! I’m very excited, can you tell?

I’m now looking for some friendly test knitters to take on my very first pattern and let me know how it goes. If you like the design of this top and would be interested in trying it out (very simple construction and design!) please email me at florence[dot]kerns[at]gmail[dot]com, or just go ahead and download the pattern and try it out. Anyone who is interested is welcome!

Without further ado, here are some photos of my Trellis Top. Hopefully I’ve have more photos of me wearing it soon (once I can convince Anna to take a few).

  1. What a fantastic top! Thanks so much for sharing the pattern. I probably won’t have a chance to start knitting it until fall but I will definitely knit myself one and probably multiples for my daughter.

I’m so glad you like it! And I would love to see how your finished tops for you and your daughter come out 🙂

  2. Really pretty top. I love the “trellis” part. Wish I could knit.
