I’ve been lucky this week to have the chance to really make some progress on Anna’s sweatpants that I’ve mentioned a few times. In fact, I finished one leg! I’ve been continuously trying it on her to make sure I get a good fit. The first leg is now finished up to the crotch, and I’ve started on the cuff of the other leg. I’m planning to join them and knit in the round around the butt/hips part, and seam up the center of the crotch when I’m done.
Stay tuned, because I’m writing down everything I do so that I can release a pattern when I’m done! These pants are going to be so soft and squishy. Anna and I are both excited about them.
I’ve also had time to start sinking my teeth into All the Light We Cannot See, which so far is very good and beautifully written.
This has actually been a very hard week for me because of work stress and the house remodel we’re working on – we’re having some serious problems with city permits (should have known this would happen) and it looks like we’re not going to be able to move in on schedule. Tears have been shed. Sleep has been lost.
It’s so nice to have my beautiful girlfriend to lean on, my wonderfully supportive parents, and a hobby that is calming, productive, and apparently as good as meditation for the brain. Also, snuggling my little knitted bunny makes things better (I know, I am a child). Anyone else super thankful for knitting when times get tough?
There is so much to be thankful for, and that’s what I have to remember when the little things start piling up and I just want to curl up in a ball and hide in bed.
P.S. Sabeena received her hat, and she loves it! It feels so great to be able to share gifts with loved ones even when they are very, very far away.
