This week, I decided to put my sweater aside for some quicker knits. First, I used some of the extra yarn I had from my first attempt at Anna’s sweatpants (new yarn should be here in the mail today!) to make a beanie for my friend Sabeena.
Sabeena and I studied together in India and Texas. She recently moved to Montreal to start her PhD at McGill University, and I figured she might need a hat to get her through her first Canadian winter. I didn’t use a pattern, just created a kind of generic beanie with a ribbed fold-over edge and double moss stitch for the body of it. Even without a pom-pom maker, I think my pom-pom came out pretty nice!
I’ll be sending it in the mail today. I hope she likes it!
The other quick knit I’ve been working on this week is a swatch for a project idea I have… I won’t divulge any details about it but I will say that I’m liking how my leaf panel swatch looks so far! More details on that later.
My sweater is still waiting to be finished – I’ve tied off the arms for later and have joined the body up. It’s a pretty quick knit due to using bulky yarn and size 6mm needles. I guess I just needed a break to make some smaller things.
My reading is sparse, as it has been for a while. Mostly I’ve been reading over friends’ essays to give them pointers – one friend is applying to grad school, and another is applying for a promotion at her job. Wish them both good luck! They both deserve it.
