This week I did some knitting AND some crafting (with knits…) that I’d like to share.
First off, I worked more on my ribbed raglan pullover, but frankly it’s getting a little boring and I’m having trouble staying motivated. How do you keep yourself motivated through the boring parts of a large project?
As I may have mentioned before, my little sister moved to France about a month ago. She’s having fun and settling in, but I figured she might need a little comfort from home, so I’ve started working on a hat for her. I’m knitting it in the same yarn I used for Anna’s beanies last fall, Capra DK from KnitPicks, and it’s SO SOFT and SQUISHY. I chose what I thought was a deep burgundy for her. It turns out to be more purple than I thought, but I think she’ll like it just the same.
The pattern for this is Sirle. I’m really liking how it’s coming out!
Also this week, in a fit of Monday evening insanity, I created a little bunny.
Let me explain.
I started working on what I planned to be a little stuffed bunny with some extra sock yarn I had leftover from another project. This was back in July sometime. I told Anna what I was working on and she liked the idea a lot. Then, I got distracted by other projects and set the bunny aside.
Anna kept asking me when I would pick it up again and I kept putting it off.
This past weekend, she went to New York City to visit some friends, and on Monday evening after work I saw my opportunity. I decided to finish the bunny. At that time, I had the body and the arms finished. I still needed to knit the head, legs, and ears. I set to work around 6 PM and took a short break to eat around 9. At 12:30, the bunny and its little sweater were finished and ready to welcome Anna home to LA!
I left him waiting for her with a little welcome home note. She loved him and I do too! There are a few things I would probably change if I made another one, but considering I knit it completely off the cuff with no pattern, I’m pretty pleased with my work. (Please excuse poor quality photos from my phone!)
