We had some very exciting news at Thanksgiving last week – Anna’s older sister is pregnant! She and her husband revealed it just before dinner. Hugs and happy tears were had all around (Anna had been wondering why her sister didn’t want to pop the first wine bottle of the evening with her…) The baby is due mid-June, and she and her husband do not want to know the sex until it’s born…so Anna’s mom (a fellow knitter) and I are busy finding gender-neutral patterns and colors to make for the baby. Any suggestions?
Of course we have plenty of time before baby is born, so I’m still working on finishing other projects before I start any baby things. But I did get Anna to allow me to buy more yarn (my stash is a little out of control) specifically for baby projects. I’ve already got these bloomers and this hat earmarked. Everything for babies is SO CUTE and I’m so excited – can you tell?
Here is the yarn I got for those two projects. I think the colors are really nice for summer and pretty gender-neutral (the sweatpants are the gray blob off to the side there).
I’m still working away steadily at the Haruni shawl for my mom, and it looks like I’ll be able to finish in plenty of time for her birthday next Friday. This picture quality isn’t the best, but isn’t the yarn color beautiful? I’m really loving how this is coming out, and for my first shawl I think it’s not too shabby.
(Yes I am knitting in the car in this picture 😛 )
Anna’s sweatpants are still going strong as well, though I’ve decided they have officially gotten too big to work on in the train, so I’m only working on them at home now. Hopefully I’ll finish sometime in the next couple weeks and be able to share them with all of you!
Reading time continues to be compromised, because problems continue to crop up with our remodeling project and we STILL haven’t moved in to our little Avocado House yet. I’ll post the details eventually, but right now it’s too frustrating for me to even write about.
Good thing we have knitting to get all that frustration out, right?
