Joining up again this week for Yarn Along.
Y’all, I am so close to finishing the sweatpants for Anna. Seriously. So. Close. I’m talking, probably 3 rounds of the waistband away from casting off and working on the finishing touches. I can’t wait to share photos with you all, hopefully next week! These sweatpants have been a journey to say the least.
When you have a really big project, you always need a few small ones to keep your motivation up – at least that’s how it is for me. Also, I need small projects to take with me on the train. So, I made these adorable baby bloomers for Anna’s sister’s baby-t0-be. We won’t know if the baby is a boy or a girl until s/he arrives, so I chose a soft blue color that is blue enough to be…blue, but also delicate enough to look “feminine.” Personally, I won’t care which colors my future babies wear, but I think Anna’s sister might care.
Now I’m just working on the drawstring, and once I weave in the ends and block them they’ll be all done! So cute. I love the floofy butt. The pattern was pretty easy to follow; I would recommend it if you’re willing to shell out a few bucks for a good pattern.
I also cast on a baby hat this morning that I’ll be sending to my friend in Chile, who just had her first child – a little boy! – about a month ago. Down there it is summer right now, so I’m making a nice cozy hat in a 6 month size so that he can wear it this winter. Hoping to share some photos of it with all of you next week!
In other news, we are finally living in our new house. It’s surreal. We had to invite people over for snacks and wine the other night to invite some good vibes into the place, because we are so used to it being a zone of stress and hard work. We actually relaxed this past weekend. Can you believe it? I didn’t even know how; I kept trying to tidy up around the house.
I forgot how good it feels to be in a stable living situation. You can buy groceries for the week and cook the meals you planned. You can come home and relax in the evening instead of building this and fixing that and working on this other thing.
Of course, it’s still a work in progress, but our home is fully functional now, and for that I am so, so grateful.
