Joining in as usual for Yarn Along.
My dear friend Madi is moving to Basalt, CO (nearish to Aspen) this week for her dream job! I’m super proud of her and excited for her – she’s been dreaming of moving to the mountains for so long!
To keep her head warm in her new home (she’s from Austin, TX) I decided to design a Colorado-themed hat for her.
I am very lucky to have so many wonderful friends all over the place, and one of them sent me a box full of yarn as a Christmas gift this winter. I’m using that yarn to knit Madi’s hat. She sent a whole variety of colors, but the forest green, ice blue, and gray inspired me to create a fair isle design featuring trees and mountains.
I used StitchFiddle to create a chart for my design (it took three tries, third time is the charm!) and now that I’m happy with how it looks in a chart, I’m off to the races knitting this hat.
I am also reading a book again! Finally! Now that the Avocado House renovation is (mostly) done, I’ve finally found myself with more spare time for pursuits like reading. Right now I’m reading Martin Marten by Brian Doyle, a favorite author of mine. So far it’s just as charming as his other books, and I would certainly recommend it. His writing somehow manages to be whimsical and real at the same time.
