New Beginnings

I missed last week’s Yarn Along post, not knowing it was going to be the last one! Thanks, Ginny, for all the fun weeks of Yarn Along and allowing us all to share and connect over our latest projects and good reads. I decided to share anyway, so I’m back here to share a new project I started!

The blue top isn’t done yet, but I’ve put it to the side in order to start and finish a slightly more time-sensitive project. I cast on the Brambles Bear last weekend to make for Anna to bring to her sister’s baby shower next month.

The pattern is so cute, and so far very easy to follow. Granted, I haven’t even finished the head. I’m making it in KnitPicks Wool of the Andes tweed, which I think gives it a nice rustic look. More photos (many more) to come when it’s finished!

I also finished reading The Red Tent and started reading another book, Stuffocation. To be honest, I’m not super impressed so far. The book is about the average first-world dweller having too much stuff, and why that is, and why it’s a problem. I’m trying to become a more committed anti-consumer, so I thought the book would be interesting.

The author presents each idea as if it’s going to blow my mind, and honestly it’s all things I’ve read about and considered before, so mind = not blown. Still, it’s interesting at points so I will keep reading.

  1. That yarn is beautiful. I just googled tweed because I realized my idea of it might not be right (phew, it was).
