I’ve been quite busy on the knitting and crafting front since we got back from our trip, and I’ve even managed to finish another project. Baby knits are so satisfying that way, so quick to finish!
Anna had suggested making something short-sleeved and summery after I finished the sweat set, so I made this little onesie. When I started, I didn’t even know what I was going to make. I just kind of went with what seemed like it would turn out cute.
I like how it came out! I loved working with this yarn, by the way. It’s Toil & Trouble and I believe the colorway was called Cascade. It’s a beautiful mix of blues and grays.
I wanted to play just a little bit with texture for this project, so I added some King Charles Brocade to the bottom part of the onesie. I finished it off with some wooden buttons I got at my favorite fabric and yarn store in the fashion district of Downtown LA. I do a lot of my knitting while I commute, and when I was finishing this I was that weirdo who was sewing buttons onto a onesie on the train…
It’ll be off on its way to little Carter ASAP (so that he can wear it before he outgrows it!).
I think I’ll probably write a pattern for it, but I’m focusing on getting the patterns for the sweater and sweatpants set all tested and ready to go (psst! If you are interested in testing either or both patterns, check out the info here) .
Next on the radar is a little cardigan for my friend’s son in Chile, and then I plan to actually get an early start on Christmas knitting (I KNOW!) for my cousin’s kids. I really regretted not knitting them anything in time for Christmas last year.
There are three of them, so it wasn’t like I could make something for one and not the other two – but I didn’t have time to make 3 things! This year I’m getting started early so I can make something for all 3 of them.
