As I mentioned in my last post, we went to Iceland! We’re back in LA now and already planning another trip back, it was that fantastic. Anna also arranged a very special surprise for me while we were there, but more about that later. 😉
On the flight there, I cast on the sweater I promised to make for my cousin’s baby son. I decided to make him a smaller version of the one that I made for Lincoln, with some improvements in sizing. According to my cousin, her boy is a chunky fellow, so even though he’s not quite a year old I went for 18-24 month measurements in order to give him room to move and grow.
Unfortunately, at the time I bought the yarn for the project I didn’t realize what a quickly growing boy he was, and I ended up playing a rousing game of yarn chicken on the flight back to Los Angeles. Even though I haven’t quiiiite reached the end of the yarn, I can already tell that I’m losing. Boo. Luckily, it’s just KnitPicks Swish DK, not a hand-dyed yarn, so I should be able to supplement with one more ball rather easily. I’m just hoping I can match dye lots!
As for what I’ve been reading…I’m still working on that craft book, but I’ve set it aside a bit for the moment because of having so much knitting to get done, as well as some life excitement going on that I’ll get into in an upcoming post (it’s good news, I promise!).
I’ll have to put this sweater aside for a bit as I wait for my supplemental yarn to arrive, which will give me time to start on the THREE baby sets I need to make for various expected babies!
Our friend is expecting twin boys this spring, and my cousin (for whose children I knit the three Christmas sweaters) is expecting another little boy in the spring as well! I’m planning to make this hat for all of them, some simple socks, and then I haven’t decided if I should make summery little rompers or sweaters. Any input or ideas? Something quick and easy is preferred!
